What is this?
Title: Whisk
Level: (-)
Timing: (QQS) or (SQQ)
Rotation: Up to ¼ to Left
Notes
The Whisk was originally featured in the Waltz syllabus and has been adapted
for use in the Tango.

Transposing the Whisk to Tango Promenade
In all other dances Promenade Position begins with the Man's RF forward in PP,

while in Tango it starts with the Man's LF side in PP. There are three common
methods of bridging this divide (listed in the Chase):

1. Step with Man's RF forward and across in PP and CBMP, place LF
to side in PP without weight. (QQ)
2. Step with Man's RF forward into steps 2-3 of Promenade Link. (QQ)
3. Man closes RF to LF and places LF side in PP without weight. (&S)

The Whisk is listed in The Tango and Basic Principles under 'Figures Common
to more than one Dance.' It is unclear whether this makes it a legal figure to
compete in IDTA syllabus Tango, and if so, at what level it is to be taught.

Alex Moore's Ballroom Technique only lists the Whisk as part of the multiple
to the endings to the Oversway and the Chase.

There are two references to the Whisk (Tango) in Alex Moore's 3rd Edition
of Popular Variations – Tango Variation Nos. #18 and #44.

Notes
Marcus and Karen Hilton examine the Whisk. They take it from Promenade Position,
meaning they dance Steps 2-3 and ending 1.
