Title: Forward Lock Step
Level: (-) (ISTD); Silver (IDTA) Timing: (12&3) Rotation: None. |
Notes
The Forward Lock Step is listed below the Backward Lock Step in Guy Howard's The Waltz and Basic Principles (2011), presumably because the Man's steps in one are the same as the Lady's steps in the other, and vice versa. Curiously, the Forward Lock Step has been given no Precedes or Follows, making it unclear whether the IDTA views it as a figure co-equal to the rest. In ISTD syllabus Waltz, the Forward Lock is almost entirely absent. The only reference to it we could find was in our 1966 edition of The Revised Technique by Alex Moore, under the entry for the Back Lock: "A Forward Lock is not a good figure to use in the Waltz." |
