Notes
The Left Whisk has three entries and four exits. Each syllabus only permits certain versions to be danced, denoted after each one. Entries: A) Left Whisk from Promenade Position (ISTD), (IDTA) B) Left Whisk starting Man's RF Back (Lady's LF Fwd.) (ISTD), (IDTA) C) Left Whisk on 1st Beat (IDTA); (ISTD only after a Turning Lock) Exits: 1) "Untwist both feet for approximately ⅝ Turn to Right whilst Lady runs around Man RLRL (12&3)." Follow with Man's LF Back, Lady's RF Forward, Outside Partner. (ISTD), (IDTA) 2) Release LF and step LF Back (Lady's LF Forward Outside Partner). (ISTD) 3) After Left Whisk on 1st Beat: 2. Replace weight on LF, 3. Step RF side, follow with Contra Check. (ISTD, only after Turning Lock) 4) After Left Whisk on 1st Beat: "Man: Untwist to Right. Lady: Circle round the man on his right side RLRL (2&3&)." Follow with Man's LF Back, Lady's RF Forward. (IDTA) Not Permitted: German dancers competing D-Class/C-Class syllabus standard under DTV rules are not permitted to dance the Left Whisk or Contra Check. |
