What is this?
Title: Running Spin Turn
Level: (-) (ISTD); Gold (IDTA)
Timing: (123 4&56) or (123 45&6)
Rotation: 1 and ¼ to Right.

Notes
The Running Spin Turn is listed as Gold in the current IDTA syllabus. We could not find the Running Spin Turn listed in the past or current Ballroom Technique, nor was it listed in Alex Moore's Popular Variations. It is listed in Geoffrey Hearn's A Technique of Advanced Standard Ballroom Figures.

Running Spin Turn vs. Natural Spin Turn
The Running Spin Turn consists of the following:
1-3 Natural Spin Turn turning ⅜ (123)
4-6 Natural Spin Turn turning ⅞ (4&5) or (45&)
1 Extra Step - Man backing Diagonal Center, Lady towards Diagonal Center on (6). Follow with an Outside Change.

Video Example 1
Notes
-29 shows a Running Spin Turn slightly different to the one listed in the IDTA syllabus. It features an extra step on the final (&) count, leaving free the Man's RF back and the Lady's LF forward.

Other than this final (&) count, the timing and alignment of this video example is identical to what is described in Guy Howard's
The Waltz and Basic Principles.
