Notes
In our 1966 edition of The Revised Technique , the Back Open Promenade isn't listed at all. However, its fraternal opposite is listed under the Named Variations: the Open Promenade in Line. The Back Open Promenade (in Line), meanwhile, is explored considerably in Alex Moore's Popular Variations (see Tango Variations #2, #3, #4, #42, and #43). We surmise that the popularity of the Back Open Promenade led it to replace the Open Promenade in Line in the Ballroom Technique. IDTA Exit Figures In the Ballroom Technique, the Back Open Promenade may only be followed by figures beginning with the Man's LF forward (Lady's RF back). The Tango and Basic Principles gives dancers another base ending: A) Repeat Steps 3 and 4 (SS or &S) Additionally, the IDTA technique lists three alternative exit methods for the Back Open Promenade: 1) Man's LF back into e.g. Back Corté or LF Rocks. 2) Man's LF back into 3-4 Oversway (SS). 3) Man's LF forward against Line of Dance, cross RF behind LF, and untwist to Promenade Position (QQQQ) (Natural Twist Turn) |
