Notes
The Five Step is not listed in our 1955 or 1966 editions of The Revised Technique by Alex Moore. However, it earned high praise in Popular Variations by the same author: "This is one of the best ideas for years.[...] Has excellent character, and is easy to teach." It is outlined in Tango Variation #41, and is also featured in amalgamation #43. Interestingly, its first description in Popular Variations features an alignment that we today would call a Reverse Five Step. We surmise that the similarities to the Four Step were soon discovered, and it was thus codified in its current alignment. |
