Title: Reverse Pivot
Level: (-) (ISTD), (Gold) (IDTA)
Timing: (S) or (Q) or (&)
Rotation: Up to ½ to Left
The Reverse Pivot is listed as Gold in the IDTA, and not listed at all in the
ISTD syllabus. It is, however, featured in Alex Moore's Popular Variations
(Foxtrot Variation Nos. #5, #13 and #53).
Replacing the Feather Finish
Guy Howard's Foxtrot and Basic Principles states that the Reverse Pivot
may replace any Feather Finish. This means that 1-3 Reverse Turn, the
Closed Impetus, the Back Feather, and the Curved Three Step may exit
with a Reverse Pivot.
To non-syllabus choreographers this offers many interesting
possibilities, as all Weaves, Top Spin, Hover Cross and
Natural Zig-Zag from PP also end with a Feather Finish.
