Notes
The Running Right Turn is a sequence of three figures danced end to end: Natural Pivot Turn + 1-3 Foxtrot Natural Turn + Running Finish It should be noted that the unlike 1-3 Foxtrot Natural Turn, where the subsequent figure is begun with Man and Lady in line, the Running Finish is begun Outside Partner. Timing Both the Ballroom Technique and The Quickstep and Basic Principles give a standard (1.) and an alternate timing (2.): 1. Natural Pivot Turn (SQQS) + Natural Turn (SSS) + Running Finish (QQS) 2. Natural Pivot Turn (SQQS) + Natural Turn (SQQ) + Running Finish (SQQ) Rotation Both technique books provide alternate amounts of rotation if the figure is danced across a corner or two corners. Note that "SIde of Room" is taken as the standard amount of rotation, and that 1-3 of the Natural Pivot Turn will always turn 3/8 to Right.
Rumba Cross into Running Right Turn
The Foxtrot Natural Turn and Running Finish part of the Running Right Turn is listed as the principle ending for the Rumba Cross in both syllabi. 1-7 Running Right Turn The Quickstep and Basic Principles allows the Natural Pivot Turn and the Foxtrot Natural Turn component of the Running Right Turn to end in a Tipple Chassé to Right or Tipsy to Right. The Running Finish to PP The Quickstep and Basic Principles permits this figure to be ended in Promenade Position. Possible exit figures are: Passing Natural Turn, Tipple Chassé to Left, or Tipsy to Left. There are no Promenade figures in ISTD Quickstep. |
