Notes
The Zig Zag is a stand alone figure is not part of the current ISTD or IDTA syllabi, although its first two steps survive in the amalgamation Zig-Zag, Back Lock and Running Finish. The Zig Zag is listed in the Associate Syllabus (Bronze) of every edition of Alex Moore's Revised Technique up until the 8th Edition of 1976. The Zig Zag is one of ten figures to have been removed from ISTD syllabus. The Zig Zag is a fine example of Ballroom's origins in social dancing, and as such should be viewed more historically than competitively. It consists of the following: 1-2 Zig Zag (SS) begun facing LOD and turning 3/8 to Left – into – 4-6 Natural Turn (Heel Pull)(SSS) turning 3/8 to Right to face LOD. At the dancers discretion, 1-4 Zig Zag (which includes Man's Heel Pull) can be taken into 2-4 Forward Lock, Cross Chassé or Rumba Cross. |
